Hello and welcome to the January-February 2004 ENewsZine from Electronic Desktop Solutions Pty Ltd.

1. Longhorn / Vista
Longhorn, the operating system that will replace XP, is now rumoured to have been put back until 2007. As a result Microsoft has begun planning an interim release, currently entitled XP Reloaded, to be released in 2005 or early 2006. The most bug ridden operating system, Windows ME, was released between Windows 98SE and Windows 2000, causing many to speculate that the 2005/2006 edition may be something similar. I'll be waiting for Longhorn Service Pack 1.

2. Self Defence for Women

Electronic Desktop Solutions recently had the pleasure of assisting with the web site design of Self Defence for Women.  You can subscribe to view online videos of self-defence techniques. There's also a free introductory video that you can watch online which will give you an idea as to what you'll see. Click here to find out more.

3. XP Service Pack 2.

If you have XP installed you have probably upgraded it to XP Service Pack 1. If you haven't I'd advise logging on to the Windows update site now and getting it installed as it will help prevent your computer from getting the Blaster virus. In any case it is recommended that you install XP Service Pack 1 BEFORE you install XP Service pack 2. This is due out in June/July 2004.

If you're unsure about installing, or you've installed so many programs on your computer that you suspect that if you do an update, the system will crash and you'll lose everything, contact us and I'm sure one of our computer support consultants would be happy to come around and install it for you at our standard rate.

4. Japanese text translation

We now offer text translation into a number of languages. Our most popular is Japanese. You can find out more about it by visiting our translation page here. We've recently been processing some online requests for Kanji names, as well as translating a page for English College TV that will be available at the end of the year. You can see a sample of work here. If you would like to have any documents or parts of your website translated into Japanese, feel free to contact us for a quote.

Hope you had a great Christmas, New Year and Australia Day break.

See you next issue.
