2. Check your index.html source code. If you don't know what meta tags are, do a search and read up on them.
(a) Your meta tag for title should contain the word music as the first word. Keep to under 60 characters.
(b) Your meta tag description should contain the word music and other major words that you believe people would search for. All your major searchable words should be in the first 150 characters. The basic description of the site should be in the second 100 characters. Don't exceed 250 characters.
(c) Your meta tag keywords should contain up to 800 characters of keywords separated by commas. Do not repeat the same word more than 3 times. For example you could say 'soundtracks,amplifier,guitar chord,guitars,mtv,artists' but don't list all the types of guitars (eg acoustic,electric,bass not acoustic guitars,electric guitars,bass guitars) as that wouldn't work for you. (You can do that in the text on the visible part of your site)

3. Check the design of your site. If you have a lot of java script it may affect your listing on search engines. If you can move your java scripting to the bottom of the page then that's fine. Alternately move it all into a separate .js file. If you don't know what this means than don't worry about it unless someone else is designing your site, then ask them!

4. Check the design of your site (2) Are you using frames? This is the main reason a lot of sites don't get listed. Search engines hate frame sites as they're near impossible to index. Don't despair though. You probably have a 'no frames' tag in your source code. Still do everything listed here but, if your no frames tag says something like 'Your browser does not support frames' then change this to the first 10 or so keywords of your site separated by spaces. eg music guitars lyrics mp3 song songs tablature mtv radio station

5. Make sure there is a site map at the bottom of your site or that your main page is fully linked to all other pages of your site.

6. Submit your site to all the major search engines and directories for free (if you don't mind waiting up to two months to be listed) or pay for express service.

7. Submit your site to second and third level search engines that aren't as big but will list you for free. Just search for search engines. Please note: Ignore the special offers saying that you can be submitted to over 600,000 search engines for under xxx dollars. Software programs like that will submit you to various useless link farms that won't get you much traffic and will damage your chances of being listed in the major search engines. Too detailed explanation to go into here as to why, just avoid it.

And that is it. Follow those simple steps and people will come your way when your site starts appearing on engines and directories.
