1. Slow computer? It may be RAM
------------------------------------

Does your computer seem to be operating slower than usual? Most of the time this is due to a build up of useless files which our software clean up service can remove for you.

But sometimes it is due to all the new updates and programs that have needed to be installed on an old system.

RAM is the memory chip that runs the processes of the programs. The more programs running at the same time, the more processes that RAM has to deal with to keep them all operating. If you have a small amount of RAM and start running more than a couple of programs you're highly likely to have a system crash.

You could have the fastest computer but if you've only got 32MB RAM your system will have a lot of problems.

The solution is to add more RAM. Usually this will take care of a lot of problems you've had and also results in a speedier system. Tim is able to come out to you and check out your system, find out what RAM you need to upgrade to (if any) and advise on a price.

Depending on how much more RAM your system needs, prices can be between $100 and $250 plus installation and, depending on your system, are usually available in lots of 32MB, 64MB, 128MB and 256MB. Unless you or your children are likely to be using graphics heavy computer games, 128MB should be ample for your system.

2. News. Microsoft discontinues support. New dates.
------------------------------------------------------

The big news for this issue was going to be that Microsoft support would finish for Windows '98 in June 2003. Fortunately Microsoft has reconsidered and is now offering extended support dates for various versions of Windows. You can find out more about Microsoft product lifecycle policies and discontinuation dates at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lifecycle/desktop/consumer/default.mspx
If you have Windows 98 and wish to upgrade to a more recent version of Windows, please make sure that all your peripherals have support and new drivers for the new version of Windows. For example, some programs that worked fine in Windows 98 may not work at all in Windows 2000 without new drivers. And if the company that you bought them from in '99 collapsed during the Tech Crash, you won't find any driver updates. If unsure, give us a call and we'll go out and check out your system for you.

3. Norton AntiVirus 2003 special offer.
----------------------------------------

We've had so many requests for the latest edition of Norton AntiVirus that we've decided to stock it! So, if you're wanting to upgrade your version of Norton you can do so at only $AU90.00. (RRP $109.95) Delivery included. If you don't have an anti-virus software installed Norton AntiVirus 2003 not only scans every file coming through your system, it also covers instant messaging and other areas. You can find out more on our Norton page:
http://www.computerwebhelp.com/norton/anti-virus.html
This does not include the cost of installation. There are easy to follow instructions with the box but if you don't have time (takes an hour or so to install, test and run) you can hire Tim who would be happy to do that for you.

4. Site temporarily offline in December.
----------------------------------------

If you tried to contact us via email during late December, or tried to download our latest special offer coupon, you may have found some problems with the site. Apologies for this. Our hosting provider was upgrading the servers and there were some problems with broadcasting the correct pages. This was fixed at the end of December but if you tried to email us during this time, please email again. Everything is working fine now. And our new discount coupon page is at http://www.computerwebhelp.com/coupon.html
