RAM is the memory chip that runs the processes of the programs. The more programs running at the same time, the more processes that RAM has to deal with to keep them all operating. If you have a small amount of RAM and start running more than a couple of programs you're highly likely to have a system crash. You could have the fastest computer but if you've only got 32MB RAM your system will have a lot of problems. The solution is to add more RAM. Usually this will take care of a lot of problems you've had and also results in a speedier system. Tim is able to come out to you and check out your system, find out what RAM you need to upgrade to (if any) and advise on a price. Depending on how much more RAM your system needs, prices can be between $100 and $250 plus installation and, depending on your system, are usually available in lots of 32MB, 64MB, 128MB and 256MB. Unless you or your children are likely to be using graphics heavy computer games, 128MB should be ample for your system. ------------------------------------------------------
